Identity Theft: Young Couple Caught In Bonnie & Clyde-Like Scheme

In a modern day twist of the legendary crime duo Bonnie & Clyde, 22-year-old Jocelyn Kirsch, a college senior at Drexel University, and 25-year-old Edward Anderton, a graduate of Penn State, lived a lavish lifestyle and traveled the world on cash and credit cards stolen from friends, co-workers and neighbors. Philadelphia police caught up with the duo when they picked up a shipment of expensive lingerie at a local UPS store that was purchased from a London boutique using a neighbor’s credit card.

Attorney Ronald L. Greenblatt, the managing partner at the Philadelphia law firm Greenblatt, Pierce, Funt and Flores, served as the lead attorney in the highly publicized fraud scheme case. The couple stole an estimated $100,000 over two years, and stolen credit cards, fake IDs and supplies to make fake IDs were found in their Philadelphia condominium.

Both Kirsch and Anderton come from seemingly wealthy families, which brought even greater attention to the case. Attorney Ron Greenblatt said the case is a classic example of two people losing “their moral center.” With Kirsch, he indicated that there were some issues in her background that contributed to her actions. While Greenblatt made did not excuse her criminal conduct, his effective use of expert psychological experts was credited with mitigating her sentence in federal court.
